Pharmaceutical Litigation



Lewis & Roberts' lawyers have represented hundreds of clients injured as a result of defective drugs. We understand the complexity of taking on huge pharmaceutical companies that have the resources to vigorously defend every case brought by injured persons. Merck & Co. has stated that it intends to bring every Vioxx case to trial in an effort to discourage those lawsuits.  We are actively handling numerous cases against Merck for damages caused by Vioxx.  Some of our attorneys are able to devote all of their time to prosecuting civil cases against drug manufacturers like Merck. Additionally, we have an in-house nurse who works closely with our attorneys and pharmaceutical paralegals to monitor the status of our cases, develop theories of medical causation and to select the best medical experts to support our theories in each individual case.

Currently, we have active litigation against Merck, Inc. in both federal and state courts arising out of the withdrawal of the popular pain medication, Vioxx. Vioxx was recently withdrawn from both the U.S. and European markets because of its increased risk in causing heart related illnesses. We are directly involved with the Vioxx Federal Court Multi-district Litigation (MDL) in Louisiana. Our experience in the MDL court and state courts allows us to counsel our clients about the various forums available to pursue their claims and the methods and means to file lawsuits against Merck and other pharmaceutical companies.

We are also investigating and pursuing cases against Shire, Inc. for complications caused by Adderall XR.  Adderall is prescribed, mostly to children, for attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  Adderall XR may be causing heart attacks, heart related illnesses and sudden deaths in patients who are being treated with Adderall for ADHD.
